Hunz drops single for new video game music project "7bit Hero"

After a two-and-a-half year wait, Australia-based underground independent artist Hunz has released the lead single off of “We eat loot,” the forthcoming EP from his video game music project "7bit Hero."

The new track, titled “Come on. Stand out.,” mixes pop and chiptune (with a fair dose of hand-clapping) into a blast of nerdy euphoria. You can listen to the track and download it for free below.

The full EP, which is slated for release on February 4th (Bandcamp) and February 11th (iTunes and other outlets), will feature four new tracks and three chiptune remixes. I’ve heard it in full and couldn’t be more excited to see this project go forward. I should mention for disclosure reasons that I’m a longtime fan and internet buddy of Hunz. Even so, I can see the potential for 7bit Hero’s unique sound to transcend “video game music” and find appeal with gamers and non-gamers alike.

Check back soon for an interview with Hunz about how he plans to incorporate gaming and audience interaction into his live show, a look into the history behind 7bit Hero, and more.
